After groundbreaking debut of “Best I Can” music video on the ABC Network and on Entertainment Tonight—seen by over 15 million viewers and spurring 200,000 website hits—Chris Perez Band takes single & video to their Latin fans

BURBANK, CA (October 29,1999) — On the heels of their sold-out U.S. tour with Maná, the Chris Perez Band releases their second Spanish single and music video “Lo Mejor Que Pueda.” The English version “Best I Can” recently premiered on the ABC Network, following the network debut of the movie “Selena.” Perez is the former husband and guitarist of Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla Perez.

“Lo Mejor Que Pueda” is the Spanish counterpart to “Best I Can,” off the band’s critically- acclaimed debut album Resurrection. Hailed as “an impressive bilingual album of emotion- packed guitar rock” by PeoDle magazine, the Spanish ballad was released to Latin radio in mid- October. VH-1 featured the song in their music special “Behind The Music: Selena,” where Perez recounts how he dealt with the personal tragedy and immersed himself in his music.

“As long as the song is on the record is exactly how long it took for me to write it,” notes Perez. “I sat down, and the song poured out from the emotion I was feeling.”

A gifted musician and respected leader in the Latin music world, Chris Perez spent the last four years writing music and laying the groundwork for his return to contemporary rock. The resulting album, Resurrection, is a blend of classic American guitar-rock and power-pop, fused with Latin rhythms. The album’s bilingual approach to music reflects a daily reality for the more than 30 million Hispanic-Americans in the United States.
