Millie

Singer of the Official Olympic song of Puerto Rico.
In an unprecedented move in the music and sports history of Puerto Rico, Millie, the special envoy of Puerto Rico's Olympic Committee, which forms the nucleus of the Puerto Rican delegation that will attend the Olympic Games in Atlanta, has recorded the official Olympic song of Puerto Rico.

Written by Alejandro Montalban, the song is entitled, "Un Pueblo, Una Cancion"( One People, One Song).

The beautiful ballad, which celebrates the importance of the spirit of peace and unity that dominates the world's biggest sports competition, features the arrangements of Eduardo Reyes, who utilized Millie's talents in accordance with her singing style. Never before in Puerto Rico's Olympic history had there been recorded a song of this nature. Exalting the positive values that drives young athletes at this time, on the eve of the 1996 Summer Olympic Games in Atlanta, "Un Pueblo, Una Cancion" appeared as a single, another indication of its popularity in the market since singles are seldomly released in the Latin Market.

Millie was chosen as the "madrina," a special envoy of the Puerto Rico's Olympic team because she has become a living example of optimism for the island youth through her positive image as a recording artist. A delighted Millie accepted the mission of cutting a commemorative theme for the important event.

EMI Latin lent immediate support to Millie's special assignment. So did Montalban, who besides being a composer is Millie's representative.

A song whose lyrics are direct and motivational, "Un Pueblo, Una Cancion" says its author , "is a clarion call to the shared effort that inspires all humanity."

Says Millie: "I feel very proud to be the first to sing an official Olympic song of Puerto Rico, especially because it coincides with the celebration of the centennial of the Olympics.

This song, adds Millie, "means having connection to 'Voces Unidas,' a record which my label, EMI Latin, has released where the best artists in the world also are singing to this incomparable event."

Millie has just finished embarking on her first promotional tour throughout South America where she visited Venezuela. The trip there was very productive. Her get-acquainted sessions with the media were greeted with exceptional interest and enthusiasm.
