Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl Announces Plans for its Annual Recital and
Fund-raiser
Dallas, TX, 11/21/00—Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl has announced plans for
its upcoming recital, and this year, the dance company has decided to
utilize the event as an opportunity to raise funds. Not only will Ballet
Folklorico Huehuecoyotl showcase its children’s and adult dance groups with
a diversity of dances, the event will be followed by a dinner and dance, all
scheduled to take place at the West End Ballroom in downtown Dallas on
Friday, December 15, 2000. This year's theme is "Union of Two Worlds" and
"Boda Nayarita."
"With the continued growth of the dance company, we believed a fund-raiser
in conjunction with our annual recital would help us garner funds for the
dance company’s various necessities, from costumes to travel expenses," says
Carlos Rodriguez, director and founder of Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl.
Mr. Rodriguez adds that in its two years of existence, Ballet Folklorico
Huehuecoyotl has grown to include over 50 dancers, as well as numerous
students. "What’s great about our organization is that it’s very family
oriented. In some instances, we have brothers, sisters and parents dancing.
It’s a collaborative family effort," says Mr. Rodriguez.
This year’s dance recital will feature the states of Guerrero, Veracruz,
Yucatan, Nayarit, Jalisco and Nuevo Leon. The program brings a diversity of
dances from traditional to more modern dances made popular by such artists
as Shakira, Paulina Rubio and Chayanne. All of the choreography is
conducted by director Carlos Rodriguez.
The event will be held at the West End Ballroom located on 1008 McKinney
Avenue in downtown Dallas on Friday, December 15, 2000 from 6 PM to 12 AM.
Admission to the event is $15 for adults and $10 for children. The purchase
of a ticket will include the performance, dinner and a dance featuring
various musical types.
Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl is a non-profit organization, with the
purpose of bringing forth the awareness of Hispanic culture, family values
and increasing the self-esteem of individuals through dance. The dance
academy is open to everyone that is interested in learning the Pre-Hispanic
roots, customs and traditions of "Old Mexico."
Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl Dance Academy is located at 3209 Ross Avenue
in downtown Dallas, just a few blocks east of the Guadalupe Cathedral and
next to "Coco Loco" restaurant. For more information about the recital or
