New Tejano Tunes

By Chito de la Torre
EMI Latin is scoring big this week with some new releases that will hit the
airwaves before you know it.
Both David Lee Garza y Los Musicales and Rodeo have nice ones out.
Lead singer for David Lee, Marcos Orozco wrote the cumbia just released by
Los Musicales, Preciosa.
Simple in its approach, Precisoa, features the smooth vocales of Orozco
accompanied by the equally cool touch of David Lee's accordion, but it's not
something you're probably used to hearing.
Preciosa is a laid back cumbia with a very mellow accordion that definately
show just how beautifully David Lee Garza plays and how versitile the group
is. Don't be surprised if while vacationing in Mexico you here it played on
that country's airwaves.
Another nice cumbia out under the EMI Latin label is Rodeo's new tune, Si
While it sounds a bit mechanical, it pushes all the right buttons. Even
Golide Locks would like this one becuase it's not too fast and not too slow.
It's just the right tempo for admiring your dance partner while still being
able to spin out some fancy vueltas.
