Young poets wanted

By Chito de la Torre
Roses are red. Violets are blue. A poetry slam is coming, and the winnner
could be you.
Of course, you'd have to be a little more creative than that, but the San
Antonio Poetry Slam is looking for a few good poets.
This Slam is the only poetry contest televised on a major PBS station in the
U.S. But it's also unique because it gives young San Anto poets a chance to
acheive regional recogintion.
To enter the Slam, you needto be between the ages of 16 and 26, live in Bexar
county, and submit five poems.
The Slam will take place in mid October and will offer cash prizes to the
first, second and third place winners.
So stop wasting your words on the walls of bathroom stalls, and put them on
