Rain couldn't stop Eagle Pass, TX from holding their annual homecoming
festivities this weekend. Although the twenty- two young women competing for
the coveted honor were drenched in water as it poured down Friday night, the
show must go on, and they walked out onto the field with smiles on their faces.
Tension filled the air as everyone awaited the grand announcement. Monica Rodriguez, representing the Eagle Pass High School Band, was named the 1997 Homecoming Queen. Posing for pictures alongside Julissa Perez and Bobby, Monica admitted she was very nervous about the entire event. Afterwards, Pulido left to prepare for his performance at the TTMA Kick-off Party which also took place this weekend, October 10th & 11th on the banks of the Rio Grande. This small town on the border had never seen such an event as the one held that weekend. A great number of Tejano superstars joined in the celebration by performing at the kickoff to the beginning of the Texas Talent Musicians Association's ad campaign leading up to March 7th with the 18th annual Tejano Music Awards. Altogether it was one exciting party down in Eagle Pass. |
