21st Annual Tejano Music Awards Winners

The Texas Talent Musicians Association (TTMA) announces the official winners of the 21st Annual Tejano Music Awards and related events for 2001.

Texas Talent Musicians Association awards four (4) scholarships per year to deserving area high school seniors who plan to pursue music in college. This year’s recipients are as follows:

Since 1980, the Tejano Music Awards (TMA) and related special events produced by TTMA has provided a forum to create greater awareness and appreciation for "Tejano Music" a format that originated in South Texas and which reflects cultural roots of the Mexican-American heritage. The music is said to have "matured" over the past 20 years since it began.

Without a doubt, Tejano music has now entered into maturity; this unique format has received national and international acceptance and popularity. TTMA will continue in its mission to provide the best recording artists to the world and 2001 proved to be a continuous growth for Tejano music.

Texas Talent Musicians Association is a non-profit state chartered organization whose purpose is to promote professional excellence; a better understanding and appreciation of Tejano music; and to provide a public forum for songwriters, performers, and musicians in order to recognize their artistic efforts and achievements through the Tejano Music Awards and related events.

The 21st Annual Tejano Music Awards is sponsored by ACDelco, Ford, and Coca-Cola.

TTMA is based in San Antonio, Texas, "The Tejano Music Capitol of the World."
