ADEMAN

Ademán is carrying Tejano music’s youth movement into the new millennium with an energetic, conjunto-based style. The group’s members are in their late teens and bring freshness and vitality to their sound, while staying true to conjunto’s bedrock instruments, accordion and bajo sexto. Their 1998 single, the danceable ranchera “Por Qué Me Haces Falta”, became a regional hit in the Corpus Christi area.

First-rate original material sets the band apart from the pack. Vocalist and bajo sexto player, David Villarreal, co-writes most of the group’s songs with band representative J. Manuel Serna, whose compositions have been recorded by Los Invasores de Nuevo Leon and Margarita.

The band was-formed in 1996 by three friends who grew up together near Corpus Chrrsti. David started singing and playing at a young age and influenced his friends and future bandmates to pursue their musical talents.

Tejano fans quickly responded to the group’s respect for its conjunto roots, sharp playing, and youthful energy. Along with a lively mix of Tejano styles, the group incorporates country influences. It wasn’t long before Ademán became a popular live act throughout South Texas, opening for artists like Ruben Vela and Jesse Marroquin.

The group has also made appearances on the TV show, “Aqui Rogelio” the 1999 Tejano Fan Fair and Texas Folklife Festival.
