Grammy Award winners
The Texas Tornados
scheduled to close Latin Style Music Awards

For Immediate Release

Nashville, TN (October 6, 1999) - Hailed by the press as "the greatest Tex-Mex band in all the world," the Texas Tornados will perform "South of the Border" as the grand finale for the Latin Style Music Awards in Los Angeles, California. The show is being taped from the Shrine auditorium for syndicated telecast in mid-November.

The Texas Tornados, Grammy Award winners, began one late winter evening in San Francisco at a concert performance put on by a mutual friend. Billed as the "Tex-Mex Revue," Freddy Fender, Flaco Jimenez, Augie Meyers, and Doug Sahm were invited separately to perform. What transpired was so intense, that the four already-legendary musicians felt compelled to repeat the experience. Each of them a multi-instrumentalist in his own right, and aided by a crack four piece rhythm section; began making records and started touring as "The Texas Tornados".

Now after nine years and five studio albums, they have released their long awaited live recording on the Barbwire/Virgin Records label. Entitled "Live From The Limo, Vol. I", it epitomizes the very essence of the band and captures the magic first created long ago in the city by the bay.
