JAVIER MOLINA & ELDORADO BIOGRAPHY |

|
At a time when almost all of the new and upcoming Tejano and Norteño performing acts sound the same and are trying to make it in the music business by copying the sounds and the styles of other established recording artists, along comes the fresh, new sound of Javier Molina & Eldorado.
With his original and unique country-flavored style of Tejano music, Laredo's very own Javier Molina is riding high and mighty in the State Of Texas and in the Northern Mexico music scene with his phenomenal hit song: "Cowboy Cumbia" (a Tejano tune sung entirely in English and highlighted by Javier's rich and smooth Tejano vocals painted with a perfect tinge of a country vocal accent). Written by Javier Molina, "Cowboy Cumbia" is an incredibly catchy and danceable song that caught the South Texas area by storm. The CD was released by Bandera Records via Southwest Wholesale Records & Tapes out of Houston, TX. It went on sale Monday, July 13, 1998 and within 24 hours it climbed to #3 in record sales according to Southwest Wholesale. This week (July 20) it's at the #2 spot ranked by sales! With it's highly contagious, down-on-the-tarm type of cumbia beat and punctuated by it's memorable and catchy phrases, this song is single-handedly attracting a whole new generation of Tejano music lovers. From 3-5 year olds at home with mommy, to grade school children, to middle and high-school teenagers, all the way to hardcore Tejano music fans ... everybody's doing the "Cowboy Cumbia". Most people dance it cumbia style, lots of people dance it country, many people are line-dancing it, while others invent their own steps as they sing along with the Cowboy Cumbia's catchy "giddyup" phrases. Record shops across the state are having a hard time keeping up with the demand for this brand new record. Needless to say, the initial response to this refreshingly new style of country-flavored Tejano music has been absolutely positive. On Friday June 12, 1998.... Javier Molina was the opening act for Ramon Ayala Y Los Bravos Del Norte in front of over 7,500 spectators at the Silverado Rodeo in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico. On this special evening Ramon Ayala publicly took Javier Molina under his wings and officially became his "Padrino" (Godfather) in the music business... giving him the famous bear hug and "kick in the butt". Javier Molina is the lead vocalist and he formed his band Eldorado in November 1996. He was born and raised in Laredo, Texas and grew up listening to Tejano, Norteño, and Country music. His biggerst musical influences have been Conjunto Benial, Relampagos Del Norte, Rancheritos Del Topo Chico, Ramon Ayala, Sunny & Sunliners, David Lee Garza, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and George Strait. The group consists of a rock-solid and highly-versatile rhythm section driven by the formidable sounds of a 16-year-old accordion-playing sensation by the name of Sacry Castillo from Rio Bravo, Texas. The other band members are: Meme Martinez on drums and backup vocals, Luis Aguilar on electric guitar, Joe Gonzalez, on bass guitar, and Bobby Rodriguez on percussion ... all of them from Laredo, Texas. |
