Dejame Ser COSTUMBRE Gives Traditional Mexican Music
New Norteño Sound on "DÉJAME SER"
HOLLYWOOD RECORDS
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 15, 2001

Representing the next generation of norteño music, Hollywood Records group COSTUMBRE blazes a new trail for the regional Mexican genre with their album Déjame Ser, to be released May 15, 2001. The album's first single and video will be the cumbia "Y Ya Después," which is already receiving strong airplay at the Regional Mexican radio format across the Southwest and Western U.S.

Déjame Ser was recorded and produced by Carlos Cabral "Junior" (Los Temerarios, Marco Antonio Solis, Ricardo Arjona) in Mexico City. The album features an inspired collection of 11 original norteño gems-many co-written by Costumbre's lead vocalist and accordionist José Zamora and bajo sexto player Edgar Luján-and 2 international pop versions that all sparkle under Cabral's creative arrangements. By striking a balance between roots music and modern production, Déjame Ser breathes new life into the Regional Mexican genre. The result is an edgier, more modern norteño sound.

Composed of four young musicians from the U.S.-Mexico border, Costumbre made their debut last year and toured with legendary acts Los Temerarios, Ramon Ayala and Intocable. The band will embark on their U.S.-Mexico tour this summer, captivating both new and old fans alike with their unique brand of norteño music.
