Austin, TX (Mar. 4) - Arista Latin's hit recording artist La DIFERENZIA added two more awards to their legacy of industry successes, taking home Entertainer of the Year and Best Song 1997 (for "Mundo Sin Guitarras") at this year's Pura Vida Music Awards, held January 27th in San Antonio, Texas. Coming on the heels of these awards are La DIFERENZIA's two nominations for the 18th Annual Tejano Music Awards. Lead singer RICARDO CASTILLON has been nominated for Male Vocalist of the Year and the band received another nod for Song of the Year with "Mundo Sin Guitarras," the hit single from their third album Canta Conmigo. The Tejano Music Awards will be held Saturday, March 7 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Canta Conmigo (Sing With Me) was released March 25, 1997, debuting at #9 on Billboard's Latin 50 chart of top-selling titles, where it remained for over four months. The album debuted at #4 on Billboard's Regional Mexican chart and was quickly certified Gold. Ace producer team Michael Morales and Ron Morales produced Canta Conmigo as well as the band's gold-selling Fue Mucho Mas Que Amor and platinum-selling debut La Diferenzia. As one of the genre's touring and chart-topping powerhouses, La DIFERENZIA continues to lead the pack with superior songwriting, excellent musicianship and the powerful vocals of frontman RICARDO CASTILLON. The band will perform at South by Southwest (SXSW) on the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences' (NARAS) Showcase on Thursday, March 19. La DIFERENZIA plans to release a fourth album, showcasing their catalogue of greatest hits including "Si Lo Quires," "Linda Chaparrita," "Tú No Tienes Corazón" and "Diablito" later this year. |
