August 20, 1998 Opening for La Mafia as part of the "Latin Love Jam & Nuclear Polka Party" is the eclectic Brave Combo, the "polka party band" from Denton, Texas. The single most import annual industry event for Latin music, Midem Latin America & Caribbean 1998 will attract delegates and music market professionals from around the globe for a trade show, conference, panels, symposia and concerts. A Sony/Sony Discos recording act based in Houston, La Mafia will introduce material from its newest album. Appropriately entitled Euforia, the CD is slated for a September 1st release. It features the work of well-know composers Roberto Morales, Victor Daniel, Chein Garcia Alonso and Jorge Luis Piloto. Produced Mando Lichtenberger Jr., an original bandmember, the album is currently being previewed on radio with "Pido," the lead single off the upcoming disc. Lichtenberger also directed a video for the single. "Mando has always been our primary artistic director. In addition to the music, he supervises photo shoots and delegates publicity and promotion," added Oscar De La Rosa, La Mafia's lead vocalist. The single, a bolero-styled ballad, is already being compared favorably to monster romantic La Mafia hits such as "Me Estoy Enamorando (I'm Falling in Love)," "Vida (Life)," and "Para Siempre Contigo (Forever with You)," revealing the essential La Mafia, with a style that is both traditional and contemporary at the same time. |
