| Corpus Christi – FREDDIE RECORDS is proud to announce the recent signing of norteño group SIGGNO to a worldwide recording contract, (excluding Mexico where the group is signed to Serca Music). The Rio Grande Valley based group lead by vocalist/accordionist JESSE TURNER signed a five album deal with Freddie. Siggno’s first album, AMOR Y DOLOR, under their new contract is scheduled to be released on May 9th. The lead single, “Mejor Dimelo,” written by Turner, will be released to radio the week of April 10th. A video for the track is currently in production.
“I haven’t been this excited since the release of our debut album,” says Turner. “I’m extremely happy and proud to be on board with a label such as Freddie.” Turner adds, “I know they have the necessary resources to promote Siggno, and most importantly they believe in me as an artist.” Freddie Records Vice President Freddie Martinez, Jr. signed the band and is confident that the label can re-establish the group on the charts. “Siggno is a young band with a tremendous amount of potential,” says Martinez. “Their style is a mix of old school norteño with just enough modern and progressive elements to make their music appealing to younger audiences.” Martinez adds, “Amor Y Dolor is a fantastic album that I’m sure will make a huge impact at radio and with record buyers in 2006.” Jesse Turner and Siggno released their debut CD, Al Principio, in 2001 to critical acclaim. Since then they have released two more full length albums, 2002’s Por Amor and 2004’s Caminando. “Unfortunately, our last album didn’t receive the support it deserved and fell completely off the map before it even had a chance,” says Turner. “That’s why Amor Y Dolor is so important for us. Not only does it present an opportunity to start fresh with a new label, but it’s a chance for the songs to tell stories about some of the tough times we’ve been through the last couple of years.” Turner adds, “I’m so appreciative of our fans that have waited patiently for us to land back on our feet. It’s going to be great to see their reactions to the new music.
