Fiesta Amistad 2000
Saturday May, 27 & Sunday, May 28
The 31st Fiesta Amistad, celebrated in downtown Round Rock, Texas, on Memorial Day Weekend was a hit, even with the rain.
Saturday, May 27th, David Lee Garza y Los Musicales, even though the show only lasted a few minutes, because of weather conditions. People did not go home disappointed. Seeing a few more minutes of Los Musicales with Marcos Orozco, is worth every minute. As you may or may not know, Marcos Orozco will be leaving Los Musicales in the near future. Needless to say, I am a David Lee fan and will miss the voice of Marcos dearly. Best wishes to all in the future.
Now on to Sunday, May 28th, Emilio y Grupo Rio, Johnny Martinez, Roy Lozano's Ballet Folklorico, and the Crowning of Fiesta Amistad's Royal Court. Fiesta Amistad welcomed people from all over Texas, a rough figure of 5,000 people packed Main Street in downtown Round Rock. The food was great, the people were friendly, and of course, let's not forget about the traditional beer wagon.
Johnny Martinez y Grupo Bravo, email: email@example.com, one of Tejano music's energetic young groups. This guy came out with guns blazing, putting on a great show and winning lots of new Tejano fans. Johnny is out with a new label and his third CD, "Mujer Mexicana", on MKL Global Music, featuring a wide selection of potential hits for Tejano and Regional Mexican formats. The title track even features background vocals by Eddie Gonzalez. Be looking forward to hear a lot from Johnny Martinez y Grupo Bravo.
Onto Emilio y Grupo Rio, which will be releasing their latest album June 6th, entitled "El Rey del Rodeo". Putting on another great show, with special guest Tommy Navaira. The guys sing it all, as you may already know, from Rock, to Country and of course, Tejano.
I want to thank El Amistad Club, Joe Gonzalez, Gordon Perez and Andy Martinez for all their support. And hope to do it again next year.
