Tejano Wednesday Concert Series
|
To kick off the Tejano Wednesday Concert Series presented by Rincon Entertainment was Grupo Lazzo. Consisting of a few new members, this group of young men put on a great show. Right off people started closing in on the stage once they heard them start playing. It was obvious that they were well accepted and really enjoyed the group.
Next was Joe Lopez y La Nueva Imagen. Joe was looking great and sounding awesome. He made a lot of contact with his fans ... allowing kisses, handshakes and even caressing kids sitting on the stage. Here is part of a message posted by Rudy Martinez on the Tejano Journal:
..... Tejano Wednesdays Summer Concert Series", and let me tell you, a living legend of Tejano music, a shoo in first ballot inductee of the Tejano Music Hall of Fame, just wrapped up a triumphant return to MECCA, performing to a small but appreciative audience on an absolutely perfect North Texas evening. I am talking about nada menos than Mr. Joe Lopez, and his Nueva Imagen Mazz. Joe still knows how to take an audience and hold it in the palm of his hand, as he serenades it into total appreciation. From the opening of the catchy and snazzy "Micaela", moving to his new music, "Infiel", and taking us "down memory lane", as he put it, with "Que Me Lleven Canciones", "Gabino Barrerra", and oh so many other classics, Joe knows his audience intimately, and the audience doesn't want to hide any details from him! Admittedly, Joe's voice is probably 85% what it once was, but, as we all know, but for some reason may reluctantly admit--Joe Lopez at 85% the equivalent of many "young up and comers", at 110%! He can still more than adequately handle all the vocal chores of his performances. Joe I think you read the Journal but seldom post--Thanks for a great evening, and if he didn't read this, Brando, I know you read the TJ regularly, pass it on to Joe,--Great Show tonight, and kudos to the band, you are whipping these guys into shape and the results are well worth your efforts! Joe told the crowd at the beginning of the show "WHOA, It's so good to be back!!" Welcome home, Joe, the Welcome mat is always out!!!!!
La Onda 4Ever I posted a couple of photos to show what the artists has to look at while performing in beautiful downtown Dallas. The tall lighted buildings is an awesome sight. ~El WebJefe |
