1st Annual Conjunto Shootout

Held in downtown Dallas at the Trinity River Bottoms on Sunday, August 27, 2000. Featuring: Los Dos Gilbertos vs Los Augilares The HomeTown Boys vs Los Garcia Brothers Los Desperadoz vs Jaime Y Los Chamacos Laura Linda vs Elizabeth Gutierrez Special appearance by Victoria y Sus Chikos For a grand finaly, Jaime DeAnda, Mike of Los Desperadoz, and Los Garcia Brother's accordion player all got up on stage with The Hometown Boys and all jammed together. This was a very well organized, large and affordable event with very good entertainment with a large turnout showing that Dallas/Ft. Worth is definately the new Mecca for Tejano Music. The stages being side-by-side with each group playing 3-4 for songs each going back-and-forth was truely a great way to really compare the bands playing. Congratulations to Diamond International for bringing us what is just the beginning of what is going to be an annual Conjunto Shootout event.
