Fiestas Patrias 2001
|
Fiestas Patrias 2001 was on Sunday, Sept 30, 2001 at the Texas Stadium in Dallas, TX.
There were 3 stages with Nadia y Fantazia, Grupo Dezaztre, Masizzo, Dinora y La Juventud, Atrapado, Chon Arauza, Mojado and Grupo Bryndis on the Estereo Latino Stage and with Grupo Lazzo, Mireya, Pression, Masizzo, Texas Latino, Jimmy Gonzales, Jennifer Pena and Los Palominos on the KICK-FM stage with other groups on a 3rd stage. When I got there, Dinora y La Junventud were on the Estereo Latino stage. I got to see very little of her but did manage to hear her sing one of my favorite songs which I still don't know that name off. Over at the KICK-FM stage was Jimmy Gonzales y Grupo Mazz. Up on stage with Joe B. was Rebecca Valadez. She is part of Jimmy's group now and sounded great. Next on was Jennifer Peña. She sang songs from all her previous CDs like Si Tu Te Vas, Pura Dulzura, Tengo Miedo, and Perdoname. She also did an awesome job of singing the the National Anthem. I interviewed Jennifer Peņa after her show on her bus and asked her about her leaving Q-Productions. Basically she said she turned 18 and wanted to make some changes. So she cancelled her contract, that I guess she was able to break, and said that Mr. Quintanilla agreed with her decision. Closing the all day event were Los Palominos. Here's part of what La Gringa posted on the Tejano Journal about Los Palominos: Jen had the crowd all worked up and when LOS PALOMINOS took the stage the fans went wild. DFW had been waiting a LONG time for the guys to come to town, and Johnny, James, Jorge and Julio made sure that it would be a night to remember. The guys made their entrance dressed in red , white and green shirts with Johnny carrying a large Mexican Flag which he draped over his keyboard. When they launched into the first song "Te Quiero Mas" EVERYONE was singing along and continued to do so throughout the entire show all the way through the encore (while they weren't screaming LOL). It was a perfect ending to a beautiful September night. |
