The KICK FM Basketball tournament "Navidad En el Barrio" against the Tejano Stars: Grupo Vida, Texas Latinos and Jaime y Los Chamacos was held on Dec 9, 1998. The admission was one new unwrapped toy per person. The turn out was good especially since it was a cold and rainy night.

The basketball game was great with both teams bouncing back-and-forth taking the lead. There was some horsing around but mostly was played as a serious game. I was very impressed with the athletic abilities of most players on both teams.

This year KICK-FM didn't manage to pull it off like last year. The winner of the game by 3 points was the Tejano Stars. With a final score of 27 to 30.

All the Tejano artists hung around after the game and gave autographs to their fans.

As a special treat, the fans were all entertained by some Christmas carols sung by 13 year old Crystal Romo. Crystal, who attends GCA in Flower Mount, likes singing country but has done some Tejano songs like "Como La Flor" and others. She is currently working on releasing a CD by March 1999.

KICK-FM, Grupo Vida, Texas Latino and Jaime y Los Chamacos did a great deed in donating their time to help in rasing toys for needy kids in the Dallas / Ft. Worth area for Christmas.
