TTMA Video Awards
The 20th Annual Tejano Music Awards had this year's Video Awards at Desperado in Arlington, Tx on Friday, Feb 18, 2000
Los Chavalozz from San Antonio were the first to perform. They put on an awesome show. The last song was of particular interest. Accordionist, Jeff Garza, with his double pierced ear, eyebrow, and tongue and his accordion looking like a big eyed alien strapped to his body with big 2" steal chains, played his accordion like Slash of Guns N Roses or Van Halen would play their rock guitar. Going from a polka/rock into the "Orange Blossom Special" to "Volver, Volver, Volver" was just awesome. After taking a couple of swallows from a beer, he poured the rest of it over his head to cool off. HE WAS HOT! I was really impress as were most of the crowd.
Next came Ft. Worth's own, Grupo Lazzo. Of course, the women always go wild seeing these handsome young men perform. Lazzo started off the set with Santana's latest hit, "Smooth". Even though Lazzo didn't make it to any nominations in this year's Tejano Music Awards categories, it's just a matter of time.
Surprised guest all the way from Corpus Christi, Laura Linda performed next. It's really hard to capture this lovely, always on the move, girl on camera! She really gets into her songs and dances all around the stage, pulling on a great performance. Be on the lookout for samples from her latest CD entitled, "Mio Siempre Mio". First track, "Mio" is currently getting great airplay.
Texas Latino came on next and played around 7-8 of their greatest hits straight through, non-stop! They had their fans going wild! This band is way over due for a TTMA award!
The Headliner of the night was 20th TTMA 5 time Nominee, Elida Y Avante. The nominations says it all for this young beauty and her great group of band members. Good luck to Elida at this year's Tejano Music Awards!
