LOS ANGELES: SELENA, the motion picture, will have its national premiere in over 1800 theaters across the
country on Friday, March 21, 1997.
Due to the overwhelming response and anticipation of Selenas fans across the nation, thirteen cities have been
selected to host gala screening events before the movies premiere.
One week prior to the movies national release, Selena Film Productions will host Star-studded gala screening
events around the country to benefit local community and charity organizations. We want to bring the film to all of
Selenas fan across the nation, said Moctesuma Esparza, the films producer, and to give the community an
opportunity to be involved in this major motion picture event.
Stars from the motion picture will attend each of the Gala Screening Events, which will include an advance
screening and gala reception.
The benefit Gala Screening Events will be sponsored by Bank One the Proud Financial Partner of the movie
Selena. Additional sponsors are JC Pennys, Revlon, and Latina Magazine.

The Warner Bros. release film is a tribute to the Tejano Superstar who died March of 1995.
The movie was filmed on-location in San Antonio and Corpus Christi and stars Jennifer Lopez, Edward James
Olmos, Constance Marie, Jacob Vargas, Jon Seda, Jackie Guerra, Pete Astudillo and introduces Becky Lee Meza
as young Selena. Selena is written and directed by Gregory Nava, produced by Moctezuma Esparza and Bob
Katz. Abraham Quintanilla is the Executive Producer.
